Terrific Tuesday!

A few pictures from this morning. The children made "bottle collages" from strips of paper, red, white, some yarn and crimped paper. It took some fine finger work to get strips of paper in the small opening of the bottle.

Our bottles look wonderful hanging in the window. The children were thinking that a few with colored water should join them -- love it when they decide what should happen next:-)

Yarn Board

Piece of cardboard I covered in clear contact paper, red yarn already cut. We will do a variation of this all year with different colors, having the children cut the yarn, etc. Addie placed her yarn in straight lines after experimenting a bit with different ways first.

Our end of summer bbq! The children had so much fun running through the "mister thingy" -- thank you Den for making it available!

Spring Weather and Earth Day

Pictures from our daily activities....

The children made cloud and rain windsocks. They also made storm clouds using black, white and purple paint. Instead of using brushes the children used glue spreaders to move and swirl the paint. We haven't finished our suns yet...hopefully soon!

Today was Earth Day. We talked about using our resources and not being wasteful (remember how Julia always asks you to color on both sides of the paper?) - and then made the Earth using coffee filters, blue and green food coloring.

And last but not least.....this is the broken bone maker.....it is 5 x 2 x 1.....see the yellow sticker...it says CAUTION...do not STEP ON....I kid you not! (ok, maybe a little)....

Thank you, everyone...for being so understanding this week. I will need to make an appointment next week but will, hopefully, be able to get someone to come here and help with the children during that time.

February is Dental Health Month...we've talked about brushing our teeth and what kind of food is good and not so good to keep our teeth healthy.

Our color for the month is pink and the children had fun just creating their own collage with pink paper, glue and yarn.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear

Our literary focus this week has been the book Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear. The children decorated a bag with a polar bear and inside are the animals from the book...have your child "read" their story bag to you!

Monday, Monday

Have you ever seen such serious faces?! They are working so hard on their icicles! As I was explaining what we were doing today they all said "Oh, like we did last year!" I guess I need to write things down so I don't duplicate year after year. I told them we could do something else but they were ready to tear and glue - two of their favorite activities!

The Snowy Day

Our activites this week have included one of my favorite books "The Snowy Day."

Sorry for taking so long to update but if you only knew how frustrating it is to try to upload anything on my dinosaur of a computer.....grrrrrrrr. I get almost all done and then everything freezes!
